Project Overview
Our customer needed heavy-duty props to support a temporary structural steel shoring frame so they could create the access required to continue building their new structure. With a tight timeline and high structural loads involved, a fast and engineered solution was critical to keeping the project moving.
The Challenge
Several compounding factors made this a demanding brief to fulfil quickly:
- Poor access, the site conditions created significant restrictions, limiting how equipment and personnel could move and work efficiently on the job.
- Heavy manual handling requirements, the configuration of the site meant a high degree of manual handling was unavoidable when positioning and setting up the propping system.
- Tight time frame, the project had been on hold for a couple of weeks prior, meaning there was real urgency to mobilise, install, and get the client back underway as fast as possible.
The Solution
Rather than defaulting to custom structural steel beams, which would have added further downtime and fabrication delays to an already paused project — Legend Hire deployed a modular propping system that could be configured quickly on site.
Legend 50T & 100T Modular Props
Our heavy-duty Legend 50T and 100T modular propping systems were selected to accommodate the high structural loads imposed by the shoring frame.
These systems offer the load capacity of custom steel solutions, but with the speed and flexibility of a hire-based modular system
Engineered to Specification
The propping arrangement was installed strictly in accordance with the projects structural engineer’s requirements, ensuring each prop was correctly positioned and loaded to carry the design loads without compromise.
Rapid Installation Despite Access Constraints
Despite the challenging access and manual handling demands of the site, the Legend team worked efficiently to complete the installation within the required time frame.
The Outcome
Over 20 props were installed quickly and as per the projects engineer’s requirements, allowing our client to continue with the build immediately and avoiding any further delays on the project.
By choosing a modular propping solution over custom structural steel fabrication, the client saved significant time on site, getting their build back underway without the lead times associated with bespoke steelwork.
