Project: Suspended Slab Propping for Remediation Work
Location: New South Wales
Sector: Residential
Project Lead: Nick Smith
Service Provided: Temporary Propping System Design, Supply & Installation
Equipment Used: Aluminum Multiprops, LVL Header Beams, Hardwood Timber Sleepers
Project Overview
A client engaged Legend Hire to design and install a propping system to support suspended slabs within an apartment building, enabling critical roof remediation works to be carried out safely.
The Challenge
The project was delivered within a live residential environment, with tenants continuing to occupy the building throughout the works. This created several constraints, including:
- The need to minimise disruption to residents
- Limited space within individual apartments
- Strict safety requirements for both occupants and workers
Ensuring structural support without overcrowding rooms or impacting liveability was a key consideration.

The Solution
Legend Hire implemented a tailored propping solution using aluminium multiprops, combined with LVL header beams and hardwood timber sleepers.
This approach allowed the team to:
- Reduce the total number of props required in each room
- Maximise available space for residents and trades
- Maintain structural integrity and load distribution
The system was carefully installed to balance safety, efficiency, and minimal intrusion for residents within the occupied apartments.
The Outcome
The propping system successfully supported the suspended slabs, allowing remediation works to proceed safely and on schedule.
By optimising the design and reducing the footprint of the system, Legend Hire ensured minimal disruption to residents while maintaining the highest safety standards on site.
