OMAC PT160.4 Hydraulic Puller-Tensioner

The OMAC PT160.4 is a hydraulic puller-tensioner designed to operate both as a tensioner and as a puller, stringing 1, 2, 3 or 4 ropes or conductors. As a puller it delivers a maximum pull of 160 kN at 1.8 km/h, and 55 kN at its top speed of 4 km/h. As a tensioner it delivers a maximum tension of 160 kN, with a top speed of 4.5 km/h.The machine has one pair of steel bull-wheels lined with multi-grooved nylon sectors, 2 x Ø1500 mm with 16 grooves. It accepts conductors up to 4 x 42 mm and ropes up to 24 mm in diameter. A version with Ø1800 mm bull-wheels is also available.Power comes from a water-cooled diesel engine rated at 176 hp (130 kW), with a 12 V electric plant. An oil cooling system is fitted, and four auxiliary hydraulic circuits run additional equipment (4 reel-winders or 4 reel-stands).The operator works from a control panel with a built-in DEG 10 electronic instrument, which has a 10″ graphic colour display and a USB port. The PT160.4 uses a maintenance-free load cell reading system and has an electronic instrument by-pass. In puller mode, a pull-force setting device holds the pre-set force even at zero speed. It also has a self-recovery device for sagging operations, a negative hydraulic safety brake, a manual clamp for 4 ropes or conductors, and back fix conductor-drivers with nylon rollers for 4 conductors.As standard, the PT160.4 sits on a rigid-axle chassis with a manual brake and a detachable drawbar for low-speed towing on the job site. It has a hydraulic front plough and back stabilisers, attachments for anchoring and lifting, and a grounding connection point. The machine measures 4.50 m long, 2.30 m wide and 2.80 m high, and weighs 8500 kg.
