OMAC T160.42 Hydraulic Tensioner

The OMAC T160.42 is a tensioner with two hydraulic circuits that strings 1, 2, 3 or 4 conductors. It delivers a maximum tension of 160 kN (2 x 80 kN), with a maximum tension per conductor of 40 kN and a top speed of 5 km/h. In pull-back mode it delivers a maximum pull of 160 kN (2 x 80 kN) at 1 km/h.

The machine has two pairs of steel bull-wheels lined with multi-grooved nylon sectors, 4 x Ø1500 mm with 20 grooves, and devices to couple the two pairs. It accepts conductors up to 4 x 42 mm in diameter. A version with Ø1800 mm bull-wheels is also available.

Power comes from a water-cooled diesel engine rated at 75 hp (55 kW), with a 12 V electric plant. A heat exchanger cools the oil in the hydraulic circuit, and two auxiliary hydraulic circuits control up to 4 reel-stands (not independent).

The operator works from a control panel with a built-in DEG 4.0 electronic instrument, which has a 7″ graphic colour display and a USB port. The T160.42 uses a maintenance-free load cell reading system and has an electronic instrument by-pass. It also has a self-recovery device for sagging operations, two negative hydraulic safety brakes, a manual clamp for 4 conductors, and front and back conductor-drivers with nylon rollers for 4 conductors.

As standard, the T160.42 sits on a chassis with two rigid axles (tandem), tyres and a drawbar for low-speed towing on the job site. It has a hydraulic front plough, attachments for anchoring and lifting, and a grounding connection point. The machine measures 5.10 m long, 2.45 m wide and 3.00 m high, and weighs 8200 kg without rope.
