OMAC W20 Hydraulic Winch

The OMAC W20 is a hydraulic winch designed to pull one rope in service operations, such as setting-up and adjusting transmission lines, and for underground cable laying. At 20 kN it bridges the gap between OMAC’s light 10–15 kN winches and the heavier W35 and W55.

It pulls 20 kN at 18 m/min, and 6 kN at its maximum speed of 50 m/min. The Ø240/500 x 480 mm drum holds 800 m of Ø8 mm rope or 600 m of Ø10 mm rope, and an automatic swinging rope-winder lays the rope evenly as it is recovered, with an idle position for manual operation when needed.

Rope-driver rollers allow both vertical and horizontal pulls, so the same machine can work a tower hoist or a ground-level duct pull. A dynamometer reads the pull force, and a safety hydraulic negative brake holds the load automatically.

Power is a 20 hp (15 kW) air-cooled gasoline engine with rope start; diesel, electric-start and 220 V or three-phase electric motor versions are available as options. The W20 sits on a rigid axle with tyres and a drawbar for low-speed towing on the job site, with stabilisers and anchoring attachments. It measures 1.65 x 1.25 x 1.10 m and weighs 430 kg without rope.
